Continuing series of lectures for CIS countries, two presentations has been delivered by Dr. Fatmir Shehu (IIUM Malaysia) under the topic “The Qur’anic Methodology in Dealing with Others: an exegetical analysis of selected verses”. Presented in two parts, both lectures have been dedicated to the problem of the Qur’anic hermeneutics. Going deep into the world of the Qur’an, Dr. Fatmir Shehu highlighted main points of Qur’anic perspective for the interactions between different groups in society, be it Muslims and followers of other religions or Muslims themselves. Using various verses from the Qur’an, Dr. Shehu addressed key terms of the Qur’anic vocabulary, related to the practices of believing Muslims and their roles. Attended by more than 50 speakers from different countries (Malaysia, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan), the lectures has been followed by the question, mostly related to the points of connection between modern and classical interpretation of the Qur’an. Two more lectures are planned for February as well.
