We are pleased to announce the release of a new book, "Muslims of Central Eurasia in the 21st Century: Challenges, Opportunities, and Prospects" edited by Elmira Akhmetova, Elmira Muratova, and Oleg Yarosh. This book is a unique collection of articles that explore pressing issues facing Muslim communities in Central Eurasia.
The publication includes twelve chapters in English and ten in Russian, divided into eight sections, each dedicated to various aspects of the religious, social, and educational lives of Muslims in the post-communist countries of the region. The authors discuss topics such as the interaction between secular states and Islam, the transformation of religious identity, challenges and opportunities for Muslim minorities, the role of public Islam, and many others.
The book is the result of the 6th Forum "Muslims of Central Eurasia in the 21st Century: Challenges, Opportunities, and Prospects," which took place in October 2023 in Istanbul, Turkey. The forum was organized by the Institute of Knowledge Integration and the International Institute of Islamic Thought.
We believe this publication will be valuable for scholars researching the issues facing Muslims in Central Eurasia, as well as for anyone interested in questions of religious and cultural identity in contemporary societies.
