In 2025, prominent Islamic studies scholar Mykhaylo Yakubovych, PhD (Freiburg University, Germany) delivered two insightful lectures at the Institute for Knowledge Integration (IKI Academy), focusing on the intellectual legacies of key modern Islamic thinkers. The first lecture, titled “Islam and Other Religions: Reading Al‑Faruqi’s Book Today”, took place on February 23, 2025. Yakubovych explored the thought of Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, emphasizing his vision of Islam's relationship with other faiths, and the continuing relevance of his ideas in contemporary interreligious dialogue. In another lecture, “Quranic Interpretation through the Quran Itself: Introducing the Legacy of Taha Jabir Al-Alwani”, Yakubovych provided an overview of Al-Alwani’s methodology in Qur’anic hermeneutics, particularly the principle of interpreting the Quran by the Quran. The lecture also contextualized Al-Alwani’s contributions to Islamic legal and epistemological reform. Both events were organized as part of IKI Academy’s ongoing efforts to promote deep scholarly engagement with contemporary Islamic thought and to make seminal works accessible to a wider audience.
