The first public presentation of the Ukrainian translation of the seminal work “The Cultural Atlas of Islam” by Ismail Raji al-Faruqi and Lois al-Faruqi took place today in Kyiv. The event was organized in collaboration with the Hryhorii Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The book, which arrived in Ukraine in late summer, has already been distributed to several state and academic institutions. However, from the outset, organizers planned a formal presentation to provide a deeper introduction to this unique publication.

The event featured contributions from the Department for the Study of Religion at the Institute of Philosophy. Special appreciation was extended to religious scholar Dr. Oleksandr Sahan, who played an instrumental role in the publication of the Ukrainian edition.

Speakers included Mufti Murat Suleyman of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma”, Dr. Mykhaylo Yakubovych, a leading Ukrainian Arabist and translator of the Qur’an, and Roman Nazarenko, a researcher of Islam. Each shared their reflections and analysis of the book, inspiring the audience to explore its content further.

Organizers also expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed to the Ukrainian publication, including the International Institute of Islamic Thought, the Institute for Knowledge Integration, translators, editors, designers, and other collaborators who made the release possible.
