IKI Academy is an online educational platform that offers postgraduate courses in Islamic studies from an integrated and interdisciplinary perspective. The mission of the project is to promote the development of human knowledge, dignity, and respect in modern society.

In addition to the main program of Postgraduate Certificate in Islamic Thought and Knowledge Integration, IKI Academy also offers the possibility to attend individual courses that are designed to enhance the Islamic thought in relation to contemporary issues and challenges. These courses are open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Islam and its relevance to the contemporary world.

The individual courses consist of three online synchronous sessions or lectures of 2 hours each, delivered by qualified and experienced instructors. The courses cover various topics and phenomena from an integrated interdisciplinary perspective. Number of courses and modules may increase depending on demand.

This individual course familiarises students with the Qur’anic concept of history that laid the foundations and orientation of Muslim historiography, the formation of history as a branch of religious studies, the early schools of Muslim historiography (Madinan, Yemeni, and Iraqi schools) and their unique methodologies of data collection and interpretation, the features of Muslim historiography and types of historical writings such as tarajim, tabaqat and rihlah. It particularly underlines that Islam is a history-conscious religion that facilitates an exceptional interest among Muslims to study their past to improve their present.

This class delves into contemporary political thought within Muslim communities. It begins by examining the collapse of the Ottoman Caliphate and the modern political dilemmas it unleashed for global Muslim communities. The class then explores issues of governance, democracy, and pluralism according to different Islamic perspectives, as articulated by leading Muslim political thinkers of the era. Contemporary Muslim political thought is categorized into four schools: statists, revivalists, modernists, and progressives. These categories are based on shared characteristics in their interpretations of the Quran, sharia, and religious tradition. Through this categorization, we will critically re-examine the relationship between Islam and politics, analyzing its implications for Muslim communities in the globalized world.
